For over 81 years, this hidden gem has delighted visitors with its warm, inviting atmosphere and exceptional seafood. Conveniently located near Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, Abel's Lobster is the perfect destination for those seeking an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're arriving by car or boat—thanks to our ample parking and limited dock space—we welcome you to join us for lunch or dinner. Please note, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis and do not accept reservations. Guests can sit beneath the trees along the Somes Sounds shore or warm up by the fire and enjoy breathtaking waterfront views from our spacious outdoor seating area. We-behaved dogs are welcome!

Commitment to Sustainability and Our Community

At Abel's, we pride ourselves on serving fresh, locally sourced seafood with a modern twist. This upcoming 2025 season and beyond, we are pleased to be a part of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute’s Tastemakers. Currently, we use about 80% locally-sourced seafood with our goal to be at 100% by the end of this year! Using local fresh ingredients is a commitment to quality, sustainability, and community. When we use fresh, local produce, it results in dishes that are vibrant and full of life while supporting local farmers and small businesses—keeping money within the community and reducing the carbon footprint. By choosing local, you’re experiencing the essence of the place and the people who bring it to life. Local business owner, Mandy Fountaine has operated Abel’s since 2020.

An eighth generation Mainer, she proudly serves Maine cuisine with a contemporary twist. When she’s not at Abel’s or Bar Harbor Catering Company, she’s with her family exploring Acadia National Park.
